VMA outfits: The best dressed of the night

As most of the world knows, the VMA’s happened a few weeks ago and there was a strange display of outfits on the red carpet. From Shawn Mendes to Lil Nas X, here are my top 5 outfits from MTV’s VMA awards.

Camila Cabello

Review: This “dress” was just not it. I wouldn’t even call it a dress. The toga piece was short and had very little material. It was very flashy and overall not a great look, especially at the VMA’s. Try harder next time.

Lil Nas X

Review: Dazzling all the men at the VMA’s, Lil Nas X wore a bright and flashy silver suit with a white ruffled shirt. The only thing keeping him from a perfect score was his sleeves. They are lacy, and to be honest, they were ridiculously ugly. Overall, though, this look was a good way to show up at his first VMA’s.

Taylor Swift

Review: Following the release of her album “Lover,” last month Taylor has a new aesthetic. Doing a complete reversal from the dark, harsh vibe from her 2017 album “Reputation, Taylor is now dressing in pastel colors and embracing lots of glitter. She arrived at the VMA’s wearing a rainbow dress coat and thigh-high black boots. This look conveys Taylor’s current sense of style, but I felt she looked under-dressed for such a big award show.

Zara Larsson

Review: This elegant pink dress is the epitome of a queen. The off-the-shoulder neckline, the ruffles in the perfect places, and pull the whole look together – almost. The sleeves on her dress threw off the opulent vibe I got but thankfully don’t completely tarnish the whole outfit.

Shawn Mendes

Review: Decked out in a Dolce & Gabbana emerald green suit paired with an iconic smile, Shawn Mendes dressed to impress. No complaints here.

Overall, the VMA’s were iconic in fashion, performances, and celebrity appearances. Next year, though,I hope to see these stars try harder to stand out and catch the eyes of everyone all around the world.
