The Frassati Brotherhood hosted their first annual lock-in Friday, March 17-18. Those in attendance were split into teams as they competed for the PG Frassati Legacy Trophy with activities including basketball, trivia, speed chess, and capture the flag.

Juniors Vincent Casal and Liam Terris and freshmen Richard Burke and D’Marley Elliott won the inagural event, and they got to celebrate their team’s win by drinking green Gatorade from the trophy.

Leading up to the weekend, Casal said,  “We’re gonna have some competition. We’re gonna come closer together. We’re gonna get to know each other a little bit more.”

Moderated by theology teacher Mr. Brain Christopherson, the Frassati Brotherhood is a group for boys where they can grow in fellowship and strengthen their relationship with Christ. It’s named after Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati who is a patron of young Catholics and youth groups.

Casal along with juniors Randy Graebner and Jake Fjelstul have been working to find a way to revitalize the program.

“We had very little membership after COVID,” Casal said, “and after [former chaplain] Father Rey left, you know, we had to rebuild our religious fraternity.”

Mr. Christopherson is new to St. Pius X this year, and Casal appreciates his leadership.

“He’s always thinking of ways that we can have more fun to bring other people in. He always has food in the morning for us at our meetings,” said Casal.

This lock-in marked the beginning of an exciting new tradition of fellowship, spirituality, and competition.
