5. Pet Food Taster
Pet Food Taster ranked last, with 66.7 percent of the students surveyed putting it as their last choice. Although this job sounds unappealing, you can make up to $50,000 a year doing this! Even though they get to eat delicious food all day, these professional tasters have other roles like evaluating the food’s nutritional value. This job would be perfect for animal lovers because it ensures that your pets (and you) are getting the best quality food.
4. Snake Milker
Although the name of this job may seem odd to some, the job of a Snake Milker in simple terms is extracting venom from poisonous snakes. These people could be categorized as a zoologist as well. In order to become a Snake Milker, you must have a degree in Biology, Chemistry, or Biochemistry, and the potential earnings are $80,000 annually! 46.4 percent of the responding students put this as their fourth choice.
3. Odor Judge
The world of perfumes is where an Odor Judge comes into play. Tasked with evaluating scents and identifying the most appealing combinations, these professionals are essential to the fragrance industry’s success. The art of distinguishing aromas might be an unconventional skill, but it’s one that deserves respect. This career path was ranked in third place by 46.4 percent of students. $60,000 is the average income for an Odor Judge.
2. Professional Cuddler
In a world where loneliness is rampant, Professional Cuddlers have become an unusual source of comfort to those in need. Offering platonic cuddling sessions to clients seeking human affection, these cuddlers have managed to capitalize on the basic need for intimacy. This job, which makes up to $80 an hour, was put in second place by 32.1 percent of students. With the growing awareness of mental health, these professionals have found a way to provide emotional support that also supports themselves.

Being a professional Mermaid/Merman was ranked number one by 43 percent of the students! The world of professional mermaids and mermen has gained popularity, as they entertain audiences at events, parties, and even underwater performances. The idea of a magical creature coming to life has turned these characters into well-paid entertainers, demonstrating that unconventional career paths can lead to success.
