The first weekend in November marked the end of the competition cheer squad’s successful five-competition season, which ended with their seventh consecutive region championship.
Junior Mila Reimer attributed much of their success to their chemistry.
“My favorite part of competition cheer is the team because we have been cheering together for three years now and we all have lots of trust in each other and we get along with each other well,” she said.
Senior Emily Kelly agreed, saying that “We are all close with the people in our stunt group.” They also attended an overnight cheer camp and a pool party at Reimer’s house over the summer.
“When I was a freshman I was scared of the seniors, and now I’m much closer with them,” junior Sophia Martin said. “The team is a lot more inclusive now, and I think the reason for that is because we have been cheering together for so long.”
Coach Megan Savage took over the squad this year from long-time head coach Morgan Carney, but she’s been involved with the cheerleading program for years.
“Coach Savage was my coach for JV football cheer last year, so it was great knowing her before the season started. Most of the girls knew her before so it was an easy transition,” said junior Lizzie Drinian
The end of their season was bittersweet. “I am sad because it’s been such a fun season and I will miss the seniors, but I am also excited to have more free time,” Drinan said.
Their journey of growth and teamwork proved that when trust and unity are the foundation, there’s no limit to what can be achieved.
