The Marching Golden Lions are continuing to impress with their 2024 halftime show that provides an electric atmosphere at football games.
“Don’t Touch the Thermostat” features 10 popular songs from artists such as the Jonas Brothers, the Beatles, Fleet Foxes, Katy Perry, and many more. There are also solos from junior saxophone player Zoe Liner, junior trombone player Nicole Amy, and senior trumpet player and drum major Elise Cowles.
Keeping with the theme of hot and cold, the band has also added the song “Hot to Go” to the usual songs they play in the stands at games.
Sophomore Andy Freeman said he “enjoys the new additions to our regular songs we do each year.”
In addition to playing at football games, they’ve also taken the show on the road to competitions, most recently at McEachern High School On October 19 where they won first place in their section.
“We’ve been able to execute really well despite our small size and the fact that about half of our members are new this year,” Cowles said
The new members come from all grade levels, even eighth grade.
Band Director Mr. Ian LaBreck said he was “excited about the way our group has gelled and the camaraderie our students are showing. It’s a really strong group of students, and it should make for a great year.”
