Have you ever wondered who organizes Homecoming, Prom, and other exciting student activities? At St. Pius X, the responsibility falls to the dedicated leaders of the Student Council.
Student Council is a group of students elected by their peers to represent the student body by coordinating events, addressing student concerns, and creating a sense of community within the school.
This year, Student Council is led by senior co-presidents Colin Crosby and Charlie Nelson. In addition, each class also has its own co-presidents: seniors Patrick Davey and Charlie Hildreth, juniors Bella Gratch and Arthur Ebbs, and sophomores Maya Mossing and Francisco Valle-Silva.
Each class council meets on Thursdays, with the entire Student Council meeting on Tuesdays. In each meeting, they discuss different topics depending on what is going on around the school.
“We meet weekly to discuss the students’ needs and plan events for the school,” said Crosby. “We discuss everything ranging from sweatpants days to homecoming.”
Beyond planning events, the student council serves as a bridge between students and the administration.
“We bring in ideas that can help us represent our class and come up with a new agenda every time to talk about things,” Mossing said. “We also give feedback on things in school that they ask us about and how the school year is going and certain changes we need to make to create a better environment at St. Pius X.”
The Student Council also wants all students to know they play an essential role in shaping school life.
Student council isn’t just about organizing school dances; it’s about making St. Pius a community. Whether it’s hosting weekly meetings or even organizing a schoolwide pickleball tournament, the student council ensures that school life is more than just academics—it’s an experience to remember.
