The time for the St. Pius X Fall Chorus Concert has come! On Thursday, October 5 at 7:00 p.m., the St. Pius X Singers and the Vocal Studio will be performing the concert, “Then Sings My Soul!”
This performance is a representation of how music has developed since the beginning of time, and it explores the unique thoughts and ideas that are expressed through music.
The songs will be from all different backgrounds, including one with Latin roots and another with traditional Native American lyrics.
Senior Lauren Smith will be accompanying with the flute on “If Music be the Food of Love,” which is also her favorite song.
“It’s a really more traditional choral piece that we don’t get to do a lot at Pius,” she said.
Senior Molly Pitra said her favorite is “Mermaid’s Lament” because “it’s so pretty. We have cool harmonies in it, and it sounds sort of like a siren song [dangerous creatures in Greek mythology who lured sailors with their music and voices to shipwreck.]”
Smith, Pitra, Choral Director Mike Abreu, and the entire program have been working on the conert since August, and they’re looking formward to performing on Thursday night with their family, friends, and teachers in the audience.
