To celebrate the feast day of St. Pius X, the school celebrated an all-school mass on August 21 in the Mark Kelly Gym with Auxiliary Bishop of Atlanta, Joel Konzen.
“Anytime you have this opportunity to share in the Eucharist with [the bishops], it’s a more full expression of the liturgy of what’s taking place,” Father Robbie Cotta, new full-time chaplain at St. Pius, explained.
A number of students and teachers helped to make the mass possible. World History teacher, Mrs. Rose, played the violin alongside the Music Ministry team while vocal teacher, Mr. Abreu, sang.
Sophomore Jordan Dowdle, a member of Music Ministry, said, “Singing at mass on the feast day of St. Pius is an honor, and with everyone there, it is amazing that we all got to experience that feast day mass together as a whole school.”
Bishop Konzen echoed Dowdle’s sentiments.
“There’s a special devotion in the Archdiocese to St. Pius X. So, I’m glad that I’ll have the opportunity to celebrate Mass with the school community as we remember and seek the protection of St. Pius X,” Bishop Konzen said.
Campus Ministry handing out ice cream during all lunch periods made the day even more special.
