On March 7, St. Pius X announced that Kristin Kramer, the current AP U.S. History teacher and Social Studies Department Chair, will serve as interim principal for the 2025-2026 school year.
After Dr. Simpson told the students and faculty she was retiring, the school sought someone committed to the Catholic faith, academic excellence, and the St. Pius community.
Reflecting on the decision to step into administration, Ms. Kramer admitted that she never envisioned herself in this position.
“It’s never been a goal of mine, but I have thought about all of the hard parts of being a principal,” she joked.
Despite her reservations, she views the opportunity as both humbling and surreal.
“This was not a path I set out on, but it’s truly an honor,” Kramer said.
Transitioning from a familiar classroom environment to a leadership role comes with its challenges, but Ms. Kramer remains hopeful about staying connected to students.
“My strengths are in the classroom, so my goal is to focus on how to help teachers do their jobs more effectively and promote a positive day-to-day experience for everyone,” she explained.
Since she will not be teaching any classes during her time as principal, Ms. Kramer expressed some hesitation about stepping away from direct student interaction.
“I’m going to miss seeing students and witnessing their talents firsthand,” she said. “Maybe I’ll get lucky, and someone will give me the opportunity to step back into the classroom from time to time.”
Ms. Kramer is a 1998 graduate of St. Pius, and she’s grateful for the role the school continues to play in her life.
“My education at St. Pius X shaped me into the woman I am today, and I feel blessed to be part of the school’s mission to help students. In the words of Coach Maloof, ‘do the best they can with the gifts that God gave them.’”
As Ms. Kramer prepares to lead the school, starting on July 1, she asks for prayers as she begins a new chapter in the school’s story.
