As students feel their stomachs rumble and count down the seconds until the end of class, they have one thing on their mind: lunch. To satisfy this craving, Sage offers a wide variety of meals each day, along with tasty sides and snacks. The menu includes everything from tex-mex dishes like nachos to favorites like chicken and waffles. But out of all the lunches Sage offers, which three lunches are the best?
I gathered a random group of teachers and students and polled them on what their favorite top three favorite lunches were. The lunches on the poll included nachos, orange chicken, chicken with broccoli, grilled cheese, pasta, pork loin, fried rice, chicken and waffles burgers, and pizza.
With the majority of 45%, nacho day came in first place for offering a delicious variety of combinations to choose from. The nacho bar consists of a choice of chicken or beef, queso, rice, beans, and the option of making it just a bowl or traditional nachos. The best part is the toppings station, ranging from basic lettuce to pico de gallo and guacamole. No matter what mix of topping you choose, the final product always comes out delicious.
St. Pius X math teacher, Mrs. Brolly said, “nachos are my favorite lunch because there are so many choices for toppings. Simply delicious.”
“I love the nachos because I had the choice of picking what I want, which I really enjoy because I do not like cheese,” said junior Alex Johnson.
In second place is the grilled cheese and tomato soup day. The warm crispy grilled cheese paired with a cup of savory tomato soup is a sensational hit within the St. Pius X community.
“I love the grilled cheese and soup because the bread is lathered in a delicious garlic butter and is so crunchy,” Director of Campus Ministry Ms. Contreras continued, “the warm tomato soup makes it so much better.”
In third place, 36% of voters thought pasta day was their favorite lunch. Pasta day ranges from bowtie pasta mixed with a bolognaise sauce to alfredo spaghetti.
Sophomore Will Turner said, “The pasta is always such a comforting meal and reminds me of home.”
“The pasta with bolognese is a perfect balance of carbs and protein, which makes it all the better,” said freshman Sofia Durand.
All of these meals stand out to St. Pius X students, and they’re appreciative of Sage’s effort to provide a time that everybody looks forward to and enjoys.
